Family Project Takes On Global Challenges

Ohio (PRWEB) December 2, 2008 -- The Project My Earth web site (http://www.ProjectMyEarth.org) introduces the Paint The Earth fund raiser to raise funds for the We Will Survive It Web site. The goal of the project is to raise enough donations to paint the map of the earth on the Web site in 10 sq. mile increments. This is done by asking the donors to donate a dollar and choose a color representing their beliefs on global warming and climate change. The donation concept was conceived in hopes to harvest a truer picture of public beliefs because of the simple fact of asking for a donation for each vote.
WeWillSurviveIt.com will be a global resource and conduit to promote solutions for global challenges. The site will be designed to first educate people on global challenges by balancing the voices of all sides and views. In addition, it will present people with the opportunities to get involved and vote on projects and ideas that may present solutions to such challenges. The goal of the project is to expose world views, opinions and recommendations on global challenges from people of all walks of life thus creating a global think tank of sorts.
The family from Ohio first started the project as a creative way to raise funds to help with medical expenses as they are being affected by the slowing economy. However, the snowball affect of ideas began to inspire C. J. McClellan, the father of the family, to take the project further and see if there is any interest in such a project.
"I had an epiphany, if you will, after listening to the media and various talk shows over the last few years," Mr. McClellan explains. "I see an ever growing disconnect among people and the challenges we face. I truly believe ignorance is our most expensive commodity and we need start doing something about it. I get discouraged when big issues come into the national spotlight then fizzle into an afterthought. Further more, where is the new space race, the new Manhattan project to take on these challenges such as energy, the economy, etc? This is what I'm trying to create, we need to find a way to ignite a spark in people as I believe there are many who care, just don't know where to start."
"Most importantly, we need to hear from everyone not just the people with the most media exposure," Mr. McClellan continues. "Everyone from the factory worker in the Mid-West, to the scientist in Europe, the government worker in Canada to the fisherman in Asia. With the proper tools and motivation I believe we will survive it no mater what the challenge."
